The Stade, HastingsThis gallery contains a selection of images taken on the Stade in Hastings on England’s south coast. The long exposed coastline, combined with the steep, ever shifting shingle beaches make it very difficult to build a harbour. Instead the boats are simply winched up on to the beach using wooden runners to stop them becoming bogged down in the shingle. Of course the launch is potentially more problematic as a bulldozer has to then push the boat back into the sea, not too easy on the steep shingle beach!? |
